Digital Imaging Uses & Benefits

 

There are many uses for digital images now, ranging from desktop publishing to website use. There are almost as many ways to get there, too, from digital cameras to scanning backs, from Photo CD scans to drum scans. No matter how you get there, there is almost always some benefit to digitizing an image.

Almost every job produced by Cris Burkhalter Photography now ends up as digital files.

Here's a common job scenario: We go on location to shoot images of a new building, then the Raw files are processed in our facilities and small sample images are emailed to the client for proofing. The client returns the images with notes on changes needed, such as retouching suggestions or cropping instructions. Those changes are made, and the images are once again sent via email for final proofing. After final changes are made, files are FTP'd to the lab for printing enlargements, then all is sent via FedEx to the client, all with a minimum of running around scheduling meetings & getting the right people together.
